As the winter cold slowly gives way to the warm caresses of spring it is time to begin planning a visit to one of the many northern destinations that Eldertreks offers. This month our feature trips include two new programs that we have brought out for 2011: Yukon & Alaska and expedition cruising in the Russian Far East. We have also opened up a 2nd departure date for our popular Classic Turkey trip departing in September. Turkey, the fabled land that joins the familiar West with the mystery of the East, is a prime destination for the adventure traveler. Our program begins in Istanbul, the great city that links Europe to Asia. Encounter ancient and modern Istanbul with its active bazaars and grand monuments such as the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. At Ephesus we explore one of the best preserved classical sites still in existence. Later board a gullet, a traditional Turkish yacht for 3 days of cruising on the Mediterranean. Explore Cappadocia where wind and water have sculpted the volcanic bedrock into bizarre formations, before heading back to Istanbul.
