Uganda is truly the Land of the Great Apes. Trekking through the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to spend time with the rare mountain gorillas must rank as one of the greatest wildlife encounters one can experience. Equally enthralling is the trek with the Chimpanzees in Kibale Forest, also known for its abundant primate population including red-tail monkeys, olive baboons, black and white colobus and red colobus monkeys.
Uganda offers much more than gorilla and chimpanzee trekking. In Murchison Falls National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park, you can view lions, elephants, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, gazelles, Uganda kobs, elands, topis, hartebeests and zebras, not to mention over 1,000 different bird species including the impressive grey crowned crane, the national bird of Uganda. Continuing to Ishasha, we have a rare opportunity to see the tree-climbing lions perched in the fig trees.
Enjoy several boat excursions on the Nile, while searching for hippos, crocodiles and abundant birdlife. Journey to the thunderous Murchison Falls and the delta to search for the magnificent, massive and rare shoebill stork. Journey across the equator and visit the Great East Rift Valley. Enjoy a second chimpanzee encounter on Ngamba Island, a wonderful sanctuary allowing for an intimate and unforgettable experience. Visit with the shortest people on earth, the Pygmies, as well as the village medicine man.
Not only does Uganda offer an incredible wildlife experience, but it is also culturally rich, and has arguably the friendliest people in all of Africa. Journey to this unique land of impressive wildlife, a welcoming people and a great ape experience like no other on earth.
