Author Peter Schmidt Mikkelsen will enrich the in- depth education program. Peter is a former member of Greenland’s unique SIRIUS dog patrol. He will share his adventures patrolling the wilderness with a team of dogs, on Greenland’s final frontier, which claims the largest and most northerly national park in the world.

The park is virtually uninhabited by humans, but it is believed that 40% of the world’s musk oxen live within its boundaries. Polar bears and walrus inhabit the coastal regions. In 1977, the park was designated an international biosphere reserve by UNESCO for its innovative and demonstrated approaches to conservation and sustainable development.

In addition to a truly rare visit to the park, this expedition includes End of an Era visits to Ella Island and Scoresby Sund on the eastern shore, during a semi-circumnavigation of the largest island on Earth.
